About Research

Collaboration

The opportunities in collaboration would help in promoting HIV/AIDS research in different dimension over the globe. This will help in understanding the dynamics, limitations, geographical problems, different practices etc. Initiation of collaboration among the basic, clinical, social researchers and practitioners would strengthen our effort in care, prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS and control the epidemic. Further, this is expected to attract the community that is suffering from completing their research task due to lack of facilities, expertise in certain areas and other resources.
The following may be considered by the collaborating participants.
  • Opportunity with all details (that can be made public) may be posted by any user.
  • The respondent to the collaboration may send his interest to the user.
  • If the collaboration is confidential, then the participants may be in touch through personal emails.
  • There should be mutual non disclosure agreement on the details on the discussions to enhance the openness and remove the fears among the participants.
  • It is encouraged that the collaboration should be mutually beneficial and all agreements are made to keep the work in progress.

Material Request

The purpose of this activity is to make direct contact with the researcher in the area on which the requester is working and requesting an important material (chemical, biochemical, reagent, reporter, cell lines, clinical material, demographic data, epidemiological data, sociological data ) that the requester requires for completion of an important objective of research in HIV/AIDS.
The requester and provider should keep in mind to make the transparency on the material transfer by considering the following,
  • Approved laboratory to work with the requested material.
  • Should have sufficient funds for work involving the material that can be shown by the funding source name.
  • Should sign the material transfer agreement, where ever is required.
  • Should adhere to all bio-safety and ethical practices.
  • Should not use material for any commercial purpose without written permission of the material provider.
  • Should have clear understanding on the authorship/ IPR of the work emerged out the use of the material.
  • Should not transfer the material to another user without the written permission of the provider.
  • Should acknowledge the provider in all publications, wherever material used.

Method Request

This is an opportunity provided to the researcher (Staff, postdoc research fellow, graduate student, undergraduate student) to know about a method, validate his method, to find an alternate method, to overcome the trouble being faced with his experiment. This is expected to help the basic, clinical and social science researchers in validating their methodology and find quality assured simple methods for implementation of their research activity.
The requester and participating scientists from the discussions may consider the following guidelines,
  • Help the requester in providing the required method with its limitations and precautions.
  • Imparting the quality assurance in method development.
  • In case of novel method is proposed by the requester, the scientists would have an obligation in crediting the requester.
